He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3 (NIV)
I heard a pastor on Joyce Meyer from a church in Moscow, whose name escapes me at this time, stating we should not eat until we have read the Bible that day.The word of God should be as important as food or we can become spiritually malnourished. The Bible feeds us the word of God yet many of us who call ourselves Christian are on a severe starvation diet when it comes to devouring the word of God. The Bible ends up being a book of little use or impact that we rarely pick up.
It is easy to gorge on physical food. Some do to the point that it has caused health issues due to excess weight. Imagine if we were to all "eat" of the word of God daily how we would be walking with all that knowledge in how to face each day. There are many countries who starve for God's word because it is forbidden. Satan would love that to happen in America. Now is the time to fatten yourself up on God's word.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for my Bible. Help me study it and not just let it gather dust. In Jesus' name. Amen.
